We recently received a shipment of our favourite Canvas Tai Chi shoes. Unfortunately, their time sitting on the docks in excessive heat, led to marking and bleed through of the glue that adheres the canvas to the substrate (as seen in the photos). Everything about the shoe is perfect other than it's appearance. We were going to throw the shipment out, meaning a price increase on our other shoes, which seemed wrong on so many levels. So, here they are! If you want a COST PRICE Tai Chi shoe, then grab them before they're all gone.

More About Tai Chi Shoes
Tai Chi practice focuses on natural balance, natural posture and natural movement. Therefore, how your feet are moving is very important.

So… what are the best types of shoes for Tai Chi practice?

Tai Chi is an inexpensive sport, but finding the right shoes is one area where spending a few dollars will be worth the investment! Old, worn out shoes can lead to ankle and heel pain and shin splints. It may be time to invest in some new shoes…

Tai Chi requires you to feel the floor so you can learn how to achieve a natural foot position. Trainers and sports shoes all support your foot in a position that is specific for that sport or activity but are not the best shoes for Tai Chi practice. When practising Tai Chi, your feet are rotating very frequently, which means there will be a strain on your knees if your shoes drag. Therefore, you need a lightweight shoe with a rubber or soft and flexible sole.

A good Tai Chi shoe must support the foot and ankle but not be too rigid as to disallow flexibility in the foot. You need a shoe that has a thin sole and is flexible. You also need a shoe that will allow your feet to breathe. Is there enough space in the toe area and do they fit properly? If the shoe it too tight, you could get blisters, corns or ingrown toenails not to mention restricting the flow of energy through the foot. Remember too, your feet can swell in hot weather or if you have been exercising for long periods.

Canvas shoes are very popular for indoor training. They are lightweight, flexible, washable, and easy to maintain however they are not quite as durable as leather shoes. Leather shoes are also popular for outdoor practice or in colder weather. They are more durable and offer more protection for the toes and feet.

When looking for suitable Tai Chi Shoes make sure they:
- Are comfortable
- Have flat soles that will help you connect to the ground
- Are breathable to keep the foot cool and dry
- Are lightweight
- Are flexible to help you move through transitions smoothly
- Have good grip suitable for the floor surface that you practise on most often
- Have a good fit across the entire shoe to prevent the foot slipping
- Are durable
